what a non-traditional mother’s day can look like

5 Ways My Relationship with Mother’s Day has Changed

Over the past couple of years, I’ve written some pretty dark (but hopefully dark-but-there’s-still-light) posts about Mother’s Day. I was struggling so much with the relationship that the only thing I knew how to do was to expel it from…

Hate making decisions? Here’s how to reframe it

I used to have the hardest time making decisions. Why? Because I was a perfectionist, so I could never make not only the “right” decision, but the “perfect” decision. But economics tells us there’s no such thing as perfect information….

how to treat your younger self (+ mistakes) with kindness

What a reunion—dancing with @portiafavro again aft What a reunion—dancing with @portiafavro again after a decade. And circling back to the girl group that made it all happen… that heels style dance was first name after… @pussycatdolls!

When I first started dancing decades ago, all I’d do was look for perfection in every move, chastised myself for not nailing the choreo, could barely look at myself in the mirror.

This time around, I’m still not great at picking up choreo and my moves can look stiff sometimes. So what’s changed? Age, and experiencing a lot of ups and downs, and finally appreciating the opportunity I have to even get to class.

Before I couldn’t even understand it when instructors said “the most important thing is to have fun!” in their upbeat way. I finally get it now. And that translates to a very different experience within myself, and what you see in these reels 💕

Fingers crossed for more OG PCD at @pinupposse 🙃🤞🏼
